Study Tips
Learning Strategies
Learning is the result of all the little things people do to increase their knowledge and know-how.
Most students have a very limited repertoire of study strategies and rely on the same old techniques for all of their work. At Brain Camp, our participants experiment with a wide array of options, taking away new tips and tactics that will enable them to be more resourceful learners.
Brain Camp promotes
elaborate rehearsal learning techniques as opposed to more common and highly ineffective
rote rehearsal.
Rote rehearsal (repeating information over and over) is primarily auditory, the least effective input strategy for most people, and the most unreliable way to remember.
Elaborate rehearsal requires involvement and significantly increases recall. It
encourages right brain engagement to do something creative with the information.
Students at Brain Camp use their individual learning styles and creativity to explore new study techniques and decide which study strategies are "
the right fit" and can be relied upon to improve their performance.
